On Tuesday, July 22, DILG posted a social media card featuring a message seemingly from Secretary Jonvic Remulla that read:

“Mga Abangers, sarap ng bogchi ko. Sa kabusugan ay naka idlip nang sandali. Oh eto na inaabangan ninyo.”

“Is this supposed to be funny?” followed by a broken heart emoji.

The actress’ reaction resonated with many netizens who also found the announcement insensitive given the dangerous weather conditions affecting thousands of students and families.

As of writing, DILG has not released a formal response to Mendiola’s remark. Meanwhile, the post continues to draw mixed reactions, with some defending the agency’s humor while others stress the importance of professionalism in public announcements, especially during emergencies.
