ABS-CBN Chief of Reporters Jeff Canoy showed his unwavering support for field reporter Izzy Lee after her recent on-air slip went viral on social media.
To recall, Lee was reporting on the flood conditions along Taft Avenue when she accidentally mixed up her words, saying the floodwater was “hanggang binti na ‘yung tuhod.” The phrase, meaning “the knee is now up to the shin,” was an honest slip that quickly circulated online, sparking memes and playful comments.
Jeff Canoy, who was anchoring the segment live, later took to social media to post a supportive photo with Lee. He captioned it:
“Papakainin ko na ng dinner sa caf [cafeteria] itong si Izzy,” he wrote playfully.
He followed up with a reassuring statement for Lee:
“And a serving of…we’re human and it happens to the best of us,” Canoy added.
Previously, Izzy Lee explained to viewers that she hadn’t eaten or slept before going live for her report, which likely caused the slip-up. She posted a humble apology and reminder online:
“Sorry po, wala pang kain at tulog. Next time kakain muna ako para hindi na hanggang binti ang tuhod. Ingat sa baha, mga Kapamilya!”
Her candid honesty, paired with Canoy’s encouragement, resonated with many netizens who praised her professionalism despite the minor error. Comments poured in commending both reporters for their humility and humor amidst the challenges of field reporting.
